VANCOUVER, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - This week the West End is gearing up to celebrate its grand historical past and rich cultural diversity in a community festival for the whole family, as Saturday, September 8th marks the 4th Annual Davie Day presented by TD Canada Trust and the West End Business Improvement Association. Davie Day is a day-long festival designed to showcase one of Vancouver's most diverse and exciting business, entertainment and residential districts; a community known for its eclectic mix of 24 hour shops, restaurants, unique shopping, diverse clubs and bars, coffee houses and terrific amenities. What: 4th Annual Davie Day Date: Saturday, September 8th, 2007 Time: 11:00 am to 8:00 pm Location: Davie Village, Davie Street (Burrard to Broughton) Davie Day activities include: - TD Canada Trust Music outdoor community concert; - Super Valu Kidzone with activities and crafts; - A community barbecue hosted by MLA Lorne Mayencourt and the Burrard Liberals; - TD Canada Trust Green Zone courtesy of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation featuring the Solar Powered Roadshow; and - An artist showcase, street performers, giveaways, food vendors, exhibitors and fun for kids of all ages. This year's community concert will feature performances by award winning recording artist Kim Kuzma, high energy punjabi-celtic fusion group Delhi2Dublin, drag comedy performer Joan-E, award winning recording artist Susan Robkin from Nashville, recording artists Samuel Sixto, Josée Allard, Sam's Falling, Jennifer Lauren, Robert Wilson and more. "Decades of embracing diversity combined with the energetic enthusiasm of local residents have created the unique community of the West End," said Kerry Peacock, Senior Vice President, Pacific Region, TD Canada Trust. The West End Business Improvement Association encourages Davie Village businesses to participate by expanding their storefront onto the sidewalk and into the street for one gigantic sidewalk sale. Additional businesses, organizations, associations and community groups are also welcome to participate by setting up an information booth or table.
