Partnership helps to ensure preparedness and long-term recovery

The following press release was issued by Good360, a non-profit organization that works with companies to support people in need.

Alexandria, VA - Good360, a global leader in product philanthropy and purposeful giving, announced that TD Bank has donated $25,000 to support disaster recovery efforts.

The donation from TD Bank will have a huge impact on regions recovering from a disaster. For every dollar received, Good360 can distribute a minimum of $10 in needed goods, so this donation will enable the distribution of a minimum of $250,000 in goods to survivors of disasters.

“Building stronger and more sustainable communities is at the heart of all we do,” said Joseph Doolan, TD's Head of Environmental and Community Partnerships. “At TD, we partner with local organizations to support their disaster preparedness and long-term recovery.”

Good360 works with local nonprofits and recovery agencies to determine the exact needs of disaster survivors and mobilize their network of corporate partners to source critically needed goods.

Historically, up to 60 percent of unsolicited goods donated during disasters end up in landfills or otherwise go to waste. Further, 70 percent of all giving happens within the first two months post-disaster, often leaving long-term recovery abandoned.

“TD Bank’s donation will go a long way in making an impact in disaster recovery, ensuring that the right goods get to the right people at the right time during all phases of a disaster,” said Howard Sherman, CEO of Good360. “We welcome TD Bank as one of our newest corporate partners, and we appreciate their dedication to preparedness and planning.”

In addition to their donation, TD Bank organized an event on June 7 at TD University in Mount Laurel, NJ, where 60 colleagues put together 600 response kits to help with disaster preparedness.

“As the heartbeat of TD's community involvement, employees' spirit of volunteering comes to life in so many ways,” said Doolan.
